Heading into the semifinals at the Red Bull Global Rallycross season finale in Las Vegas at The LINQ, Ken Block is within 10 points of his first series title.
Block won both of his heats this week, while current championship leader (and defending GRC Lites champion) Joni Wiman finished second in both of his. That closed Wiman's lead over Block from 12 points to 10—or two finishing positions in the main event. If the two drivers tie, Block will win the tiebreaker by virtue of his victory in Charlotte.
Don't count out Scott Speed or Nelson Piquet Jr., though. Speed, driving the new Volkswagen Beetle for the first time, qualified on pole and won both of his heats to climb within 27 points of the lead, while Piquet remains within 30 points. With a swing of up to 45 points between first place and 10th in the main event, anything can happen.
As for spoilers: Tanner Foust, the two-time series champion, may be ninth in points, but he's also won both of his heats this week and will have a front row starting spot in the semifinal
Red Bull Global Rallycross Las Vegas at The LINQ will be streamed live and worldwide starting at 5PM PT/8PM ET at http://www.redbullglobalrallycross.com/live. Be sure to tune in and watch the drama unfold! Who's your pick to win it all?
