What does one of the world's most legendary skateboarders do when he wants to diversify his athletic accomplishments? He comes to Red Bull Global Rallycross, of course, and joins the world-renowned Subaru Rally Team USA to do it.
That's precisely what Bucky Lasek did in 2012, and now three years into his rallycross career, he's established himself as one of the world's best behind the wheel.
A genuine car guy, Lasek has been racing for over a decade, wrenches on his own Subaru STI, and takes it out to track days and autocross events whenever possible. From shifter karts to MMRP Mustang Challenge and Porsche Cup events, he took numerous wins and podiums. Before coming to Red Bull GRC, he trained everywhere from Miller Motorsports Park to Skip Barber Racing School to Team O'Neil and DirtFish Rally School (the last of which he still frequents) in order to hone his skills.
He kicked off the 2014 Red Bull GRC season with a silver medal at X Games, making him only the second athlete in history to medal in a motorized and non-motorized event at the world's premier action sports festival, and backed it up with two more podiums in Daytona and Las Vegas.
His Las Vegas drive may have been the most impressive of all: after muscling around Scott Speed to win his semifinal, Lasek took heavy contact on the initial start—but when the race restarted, he put on a clinic on how to hold off a hard-charging opponent. (You can watch video of both Lasek's semifinal victory and main event on the Subaru Motorsports app, or relive the whole weekend with the final episode of Launch Control.)
Now, he's here and ready to take your questions starting at 1PM ET. What do you want to know?
Be sure to watch Bucky Lasek and the rest of Red Bull Global Rallycross' top drivers compete in the 2014 season finale in Las Vegas this Sunday at 1:30PM ET on your local NBC affiliate!
